IBM 3270 Emulation Mode
When you are accessing the IBM host (single- and dual-application sessions), the
function keys on the top row of the Tandem keyboard (F1 through F16) generate most of
the control-key functions available on an IBM 3270 information display system. These
include:
ATTN: Indicates the attention key, for SNA mode only.
BACKSPACE: Requests a record backspace operation.
CLEAR: Clears the entire screen to nulls, moves the cursor to the first character
position on the screen, and transmits an attention identifier (AID) code to the host.
CMD1 through CMD24: Indicates function keys that are used to select specific
program functions and are specific to the IBM 5250 terminal.
DUP: Sends the DUP (duplicate) character to inform the program that a duplicate
operation is indicated for the rest of the field in which the DUP character is located.
ENTER: Transmits all modified fields to the host.
ERASE EOF: Erases to the end of the current field.
ERASE INPUT: Clears unprotected fields to nulls and moves the cursor to the
first unprotected character position on the screen.
FIELD -: Exits a numeric field after setting it negative.
FIELD +-: Exits any field.
FM: Sends the FM (field mark) character to identify the end of a field in an
unformatted buffer or subfield in a formatted buffer.
HELP: Requests help from the host application.
HOST PRINT: Requests a host print operation.
PA1 through PA3: Enables you to gain program attention (PA) without sending
any input data.
PF1 through PF24: Defines program functions for the IBM application program
in use. Each PF key generates a unique attention identifier (AID) that informs the
program of the method you used to contact the program and what request you are
making.
PRINT: Initiates the EM3270 emulator screen print function.
ROLL DOWN: Requests the host program to scroll data down.
ROLL UP: Requests the host program to scroll data up.
SYS REQ: Resets and clears the keyboard. You can also use SYS REQ to enter
and leave system operator mode for session switch functions supported by the
virtual telecommunications access method (VTAM). This applies to SNA mode
only.
