Basic and Advanced Sessions
With EM3270
This section describes the operating procedures associated with configuring and running
the EM3270 emulator program. It describes a basic interactive stand-alone session in
which the emulator process is configured and started from the home terminal. It also
describes the case in which the emulator is configured and brought up interactively from
a central operator terminal to run a session on a second terminal.
This section then describes how to use the emulator in more complex operational
environments. These descriptions contain actual command examples that you can use as
models when configuring and using the emulator.
Single-User Emulator Session
A single-user interactive session with the emulator involves the following:
•
Establishing the communication links between the Tandem, IBM, or Fujitsu terminal
and the IBM or Fujitsu host. This is done according to the access method to be used
by the EM3270 emulator (TR3271, SNAX/XF, SNAX/CDF, or SNAX/APN) to
access the host:
See Appendix K, “Sample Host Configurations,” for more information on host
configuration.
•
Creating the log file.
•
Starting the EMCOM interpreter.
•
Starting the EM3270 emulator.
•
Starting up and running the application(s).
•
Terminating the session.
•
Bringing down the EM3270 emulator.
•
Bringing down EMCOM.
TR3271 Add subdevices to the TR3271 access method using the Subsystem
Control Facility (SCF).
SNAX/XF Add subdevices (LUs) to the SNAX/XF access method using SCF.
SNAX/CDF Add objects (APPLs) to the SNAX/CDF access method using SCF.
SNAX/APN Add objects (APPLs) to the SNAX/APN access method using SCF.
Note. Kanji, Hangul, and IBM 5250 sessions are not supported using TR3271.
