Pathway Interface
You can use a SHOW command at this point to verify that you set these parameters
correctly.
Starting the Emulator
Type in a START command to start the emulator:
}START $EM1
EMCOM acknowledges the command by displaying the following message:
STATUS - *1019* PROCESS CREATED 3:50
The numbers in italics are the CPU:PIN designators assigned by the NonStop Kernel
operating system to the EM3270 emulator process.
Configuring the Device
Type in the following commands to configure each terminal:
}ASSUME DEVICE --Change default keyword to DEVICE
}SET LINK ON --Establish a dual-application
session
}SET HOST $SN.#P2 --Specify host subdevice
}SET DEVTYPE CRT --Device is a terminal
}ADD $ATP.#T1 --Use terminal name
In response to the ADD command, the emulator displays:
STATUS *1035* TERMINAL ADDED
Starting the Terminal
At this point, the emulator process is active and a terminal has been defined, configuring
the system. (The terminal, $ATP.#T1, must be inactive at this time. If it is not, close any
open applications and enter the PAUSE command at the TACL prompt.)
Now, start the terminal:
}START $ATP.#T1
The emulator displays the following message:
STATUS *1026* TERMINAL STARTED
Initially the Tandem application screen is presented. If you have properly set up the
communication lines using SCF, the terminal user can communicate with the IBM
application by pressing the SWITCH key. Pressing the SWITCH key while online with
the IBM host restores communication with the Tandem application.
Pathway Interface
The Tandem application in this dual-application session is Pathway. This is the typical
Tandem application. The terminal that accesses Pathway must be defined to Pathway
