Advanced Emulator Session
This subsection describes an advanced session with the emulator, demonstrating its
application in a large-scale operational environment. It describes an expanded central
operator control configuration that brings up the emulator in noninteractive mode, which
is generally the case for an operational environment.
An example emulator environment is shown in Figure 3-3. In this figure, all control
processes, such as SCF, EMCOM (EM3270 command interpreter), SPOOLCOM
(spooler command interpreter), PATHCOM (Pathway command interpreter), and
PATHMON (Pathway monitor), have been omitted for clarity. The printer (PTR1) in
this example is connected to CRT1, using the Model 6LA printer interface board for the
Tandem terminal, and is configured as a separately addressable device. Any terminal
user print request (PRINT key) or application-triggered screen print operations on CRT1
or CRT2 are directed to $S.#P2. In the example, the sessions listed in Table 3-1 are
established.
