EM3270 Emulator Commands
EM3270 Emulator Commands
In the remainder of this section, the command syntax for each command is defined and
described. Command usage examples and a list of error messages associated with each
command are provided. The messages are described in greater detail in Appendix D.
OBEYVOL Sets a default volume and subvolume name to be used in the expansion of
OBEY file names. The initial settings for the OBEYVOL default are
taken from TACL.
OPEN Causes EMCOM to close the currently open EM3270 emulator process,
if any, and open the indicated process.
PAUSE Causes EMCOM to suspend execution until a specified number of
seconds have elapsed or the BREAK key is pressed.
RESET Resets one or all of the values of the SET parameters to their default
values.
RUN Starts up an emulator session on the home terminal of the EMCOM user.
SET Establishes values of parameters for the EM3270 emulator processes in
addition to printers and terminals.
SHOW Displays current values of the SET parameters.
START Causes EMCOM to create a new emulator process or to activate a printer
or terminal.
STATS Causes statistics gathered by running the EM3270 emulator process to be
printed.
STATUS Causes EMCOM to report the status of an EM3270 emulator process,
terminal, or printer.
STOP Deactivates an EM3270 emulator process, terminal, or printer.
SWITCH Transfers control to the backup emulator process.
SYSTEM Sets the default system name for file-name expansions.
TRACE Starts and stops the EM3270 diagnostic trace.
VOLUME Sets the default volume and subvolume names for file-name expansions.
X Temporarily suspends EMCOM and invokes another program.
