EM3270 Emulator Command Set
ADD Command
The ADD command adds the most recently defined terminal or device to the currently
open EM3270 emulator process. If the terminal has not been fully defined, the ADD
command is not executed and an error message is displayed. For example, the host
access file must have been specified and, if the SNALOGON parameter was set, its
APPLID parameter must also have been set.
file-name
specifies a fully qualified network terminal file name. This name is used to identify
the selected terminal when you issue other commands, such as START and STOP.
This name is also used as a subdevice name (without the system name) that the
Tandem-based application can specify in a subsequent open of the EM3270
emulator process (see the LINK parameter of the SET command).
Considerations
Due to the access scheme used, terminals with identical names attached to different
network nodes cannot be configured in the same EM3270 emulator process.
Examples
ADD \CUPRTNO.$TERM7
ADD $AM65.#TERM1
If the process name of the EM3270 emulator was $EM, the Tandem application would
access the terminals configured in the previous example by issuing OPEN procedures to
the following files:
$EM.#TERM7
$EM.#AM65.TERM1

ALTER Command
When applied to a device, the ALTER command changes the configuration parameters
of the indicated terminal or device within the currently open EM3270 emulator process.
The terminal being reconfigured must be configured and stopped before you issue an
ALTER command for it.
When applied to a process, the ALTER command sets up or alters the backup processor
for the specified EM3270 emulator process.
