PROCESS, DEVICE, and PROFILE Objects
handler processes. To add an EnvoyACP/XF line, you add an EnvoyACP/XF line-
handler process object; a corresponding LINE object is defined automatically.
PROCESS, DEVICE, and PROFILE Objects
In the WAN subsystem, you can change the line-handler process modifiers in two
ways:
By defining a new PROFILE object and using the ADD PROFILE command to
specify the modifiers.
By using the ADD DEVICE command to specify the modifiers.
See the WAN Subsystem Configuration and Management Manual for details about
these two methods of changing line-handler process modifiers.
WAN Subsystem Configuration Database
The WAN subsystem configuration database stores the PROFILE objects (containing
the EnvoyACP/XF line-handler process modifiers) and the DEVICE objects.
(Throughout the remainder of this manual, the WAN subsystem configuration database
is called the configuration database.)
SCF Command Routing
The SCP routes an SCF command to the correct subsystem based on the object name
in the command. In the following example, SCP sends the ADD DEVICE command to
the WAN subsystem based on the object name (#EXF01):
-> ADD DEVICE $ZZWAN.#EXF01...
Similarly, in the next example, the SCP sends the STATUS LINE command to the
EnvoyACP/XF subsystem based on the object name ($EXF01):
-> STATUS LINE $EXFO1
Configuring Lines
Configuring EnvoyACP/XF communications lines involves one or both of the following
tasks:
Configuring new communications lines
Reconfiguring existing communications lines
Each task is discussed below.
Configuring New Communications Lines
To configure a new EnvoyACP/XF communications line, do the following:
