Optional Modifier Descriptions
The modifiers AUTOTESTRESP/NOAUTOTESTRESP are ignored for a primary
station. Because the user application can change a station from primary to secondary
or from secondary to primary, the user application can enable or disable the modifier
setting indirectly:
•
If the user application changes a primary station to a secondary station through a
SETMODE procedure, the modifier specification is applied.
•
If the user application changes a secondary station to a primary station through a
SETMODE procedure, the modifier specification is ignored.
Implementation Issues for AUTOTESTRESP
According to the IBM standard (IBM Synchronous Data Link Control General
Information Manual), a TEST frame may be transmitted in any state. However, the
state of the receiving station does have an effect on the response, as described below:
•
If the station receiving a TEST frame is off line, the TEST frame is dropped and not
replied to.
