Optional Modifier Descriptions
Thus, with IBM extended control, only the following numbered frames contain a 2-byte
control field:
•
Information frames (I-frames)
•
Receive Ready frames (RR-frames)
•
Receive Not Ready frames (RNR-frames)
•
Reject frames (REJ-frames)
•
Selective Reject frames (SREJ-frames)
The default setting for this modifier is NOIBMEXTENDED which specifies that the IBM
extended control format is not enabled. You may wish to specify this modifier in the
WAN subsystem configuration database for documentation purposes.
You can specify the IBMEXTENDED/NOIBMEXTENDED modifiers only through the
WAN subsystem. You cannot change these modifiers through SETMODE procedures
or through an SCF command to the EnvoyACP/XF subsystem. However, your
application program can indirectly enable or disable the IBMEXTENDED modifier.
IBMEXTENDED is in effect only when EXTENDEDCONTROL is enabled, so by
disabling and reenabling the EXTENDEDCONTROL through the SETMODE 19
procedure, the application enables or disables the IBMEXTENDED modifier.
This ability to programmatically activate or deactivate EXTENDEDCONTROL may be
useful when an application must communicate with stations having different control
characteristics. However, this capability is limited to a point-to-point dial (SWITCHED)
environment in which the application can programmatically determine the operating
characteristics of the remote station.
IDLECMDRR/IDLERESPRR
IDLECMDRR specifies that an RR frame is to be sent at IDLETIMER intervals on an
ABM line using the primary address, and that the frame should have the P/F bit set
to 1. An RR frame with the P/F bit set notifies the secondary station that the primary
station is ready to receive transmissions.
IDLERESPRR specifies that an RR frame is to be sent at IDLETIMER intervals on an
ABM line using the secondary address, and that the frame should have the P/F bit set
to 0. This allows the secondary station to send an unsolicited response notifying the
primary station that it is ready to receive transmissions.
Default: IDLERESPRR
Units: N/A
Range: N/A
Note: Only for ABM.
