OPTION1/NOOPTION1
OPTION1 enables an alternate form of station management for NRM supervisor
stations, delaying their acknowledgment of I-frames.
OPTION1: Delaying I-Frame Acknowledgment
When OPTION1 is enabled and a supervisor station receives an I-frame with the
poll-final bit set, the supervisor does not immediately send back an RR-frame to
acknowledge the received I-frame.
Instead, the supervisor polls the other stations in the poll list. The supervisor does not
acknowledge the received I-frame until the polling cycle comes back to the tributary
station that sent the frame.
The example in Figure 3-5 assumes two tributary stations (address 01 and address 02)
and shows the OPTION1 method of I-frame acknowledgment.
