Errors 162 and 171
General file-system errors (Table 9-7) are also possible:
Errors 0, 163-168, and 171 are normal occurrences. Errors 163 and 167, for example,
indicate that the remote station has reset the line to the CONTROL state. After any error
other than these seven, the local station should send an EOT (CONTROL operation 13)
to ensure that both stations agree that the line is in the CONTROL state before resuming
communications.
Errors 162 and 171
The distinction between errors 162 and 171 in the Burroughs point-to-point protocol is
quite different from the distinction in the BISYNC point-to-point protocol. Table 9-8
compares the differences between the two errors in Burroughs and BISYNC point-to-
point.

The remote did not bid for the line or did not
respond to a line bid. This error is a normal
occurrence. The operation was not retried by
Envoy.
