Modifier Descriptions
This modifier applies to BSC lines only. It disables monitoring of the carrier signal (CF)
during transmission.
CFSENSEON
Default: CFSENSEOFF
Units: Not applicable
Range: Not applicable
Alternate modifier: CFSENSEOFF
This modifier applies to BSC lines only. It enables monitoring of the carrier signal (CF)
during transmission. If a signal loss is detected, a modem error is reported.
The CFSENSEON modifier should be used only for full-duplex lines. If it is used for
half-duplex lines, the carrier must be dropped when there is a line turnaround. Dropping
the carrier signal indicates that one side is through transmitting and the other side can
begin. In half-duplex configuration, the use of this modifier would cause modem errors
for half-duplex, even if the line were functioning correctly.
CHAR5, CHAR6, CHAR7, or CHAR8
Default: CHAR7 for ADM and TINET lines; CHAR8 for SIMPLEX and ASC lines
Units: Not applicable
Range: Not applicable
Alternate modifiers: Any of the CHAR modifiers
This modifier applies to ADM, TINET, SIMPLEX, and ASC lines only. It specifies the
character size in bits.
If both CHAR5 and STOPBITON are specified, the communications line transmits and
receives in Baudot code (5-bit words with 1.5 stop bits). When you specify the CHARn
modifier, also specify parity, ODD or EVEN. When you specify CHAR8, the modifier
NONE (no parity bit) must also be specified.
CHECK
Default: CHECK
Units: Not applicable
Range: Not applicable
Alternate modifier: NOCHECK
This modifier applies to SIMPLEX and ASC lines only. It enables incoming message
parity checking. CHECK can be altered using the SETMODE 16 procedure, as follows:
SETMODE 16, bit 3 of param 1 = 0 (CHECK)
