Modifier Descriptions
Once this modifier is added to the device record, it can only be removed by using the
SCF ALTER DEVICE command with the RESET modifier option.
EBCDIC
Default: ASCII
Units: Not applicable

Alternate modifier: ASCII
This modifier applies to BSC lines only. It specifies the transmission code as EBCDIC.
Inbound data is translated from EBCDIC to ASCII. Outbound data is translated from
ASCII to EBCDIC. The modifier XLATE is equivalent to EBCDIC. The EBCDIC
modifier can still be used, however.
ECHO
Default: NOECHO

Alternate modifier: NOECHO
This modifier applies to TINET, SIMPLEX, ADM, and ASC lines only. It specifies that
data received by the communications line interface processor (CLIP) is echoed.
EIA
Default: EIA

This modifier applies to ADM, TINET, SIMPLEX, and ASC lines only. It defines the
electrical connection type as EIA RS-232.
