Modifier Descriptions
SWITCH can be altered with a call to SETMODE 16.
SWITCH appears when you specify the PPSW modifier. To remove SWITCH, specify
the PPNSW modifier, the MPSUPV modifier, or the MPTRIB modifier.
SYNCS n
Default: 3
Units: Number of SYN characters
Range: 0 to 15
Alternate modifier: None
This modifier applies to BSC lines only. It specifies the number of leading SYN
characters.
TCHAR1 n, TCHAR2 n, TCHAR3 n, and TCHAR4 n
Default: See table below
Units: Not applicable
Range: 0 through 255
Alternate modifier: None
This modifier applies to ADM, TINET, SIMPLEX, and ASC lines only.
You can specify up to four termination or strip characters (TCHAR settings) by using
the TCHAR1 n, TCHAR2 n, TCHAR3 n, and TCHAR4 n modifiers. There is no
significance as to whether a character is defined as TCHAR1 or TCHAR2. The only
difference is that if a character is defined as both a strip character and a termination
character, stripping takes precedence.
n may be an octal representation of an ASCII character, or an ASCII character. To
specify an octal representation of an ASCII character, use the percent sign (%). For
example: TCHAR1 %23.
If n is represented by bits 0:7, bit 0 indicates whether the character is a strip or
termination character. If n is defined as a termination character, Envoy terminates the
read after receiving the ASCII character defined by n. If n is defined as a strip character,
Envoy discards the ASCII character defined by n if it is seen in the character stream
being received.
Default values for each of the TCHAR modifiers are listed in Table 3-4
.
