Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) for
Envoy
Envoy works with a user application to create a complete access method enabling
Compaq systems to access I/O devices (such as ATMs). Each device is a station within a
data communications network.
This manual describes the SCF interface to the Envoy subsystem; it does not describe
the SCF interface to the WAN subsystem. For information about the SCF interface to the
WAN subsystem, see the WAN Subsystem Configuration and Management Manual.
SCF provides an interactive interface to the Subsystem Control Process (SCP). (The
default SCP process is named $ZNET.) SCP, in turn, provides an interface to the Envoy
subsystem's operations and services. Figure 4-1
shows this structure.
