Running SCF
Running SCF
SCF resides in the file $SYSTEM.SYSTEM.SCF. To start SCF, use the TACL RUN
command. SCF can be run in either of two modes: interactive or noninteractive. For
more information about the syntax of the RUN command and these two modes of
operation, see the SCF Reference Manual for G-Series Releases.
Input Sources and Output Destinations
SCF accepts command input from a terminal or a disk file; it directs output to a disk file,
an application process, a terminal, or a printer. The RUN command that initiates SCF
determines the initial input source and output destination.
When an SCF line is active, you can change both the source and the destination
temporarily. For information about how to set the initial input source and output
destination and how to change them, see the SCF Reference Manual for G-Series
Releases.
Online Help
SCF provides online support when you use the HELP command (described fully in the
SCF Reference Manual for G-Series Releases). If you enter the HELP command, SCF
responds with a menu that guides you through the help options; select from the options
displayed in the menu for the information you need.
Version Compatibility
The current version of this product is compatible with the NonStop Himalaya S-series
servers only.
Objects for Envoy
This subsection describes the types of Envoy objects you can manage using the SCF
interface to Envoy and provides a detailed description of each object type and object
state.
Envoy Object Types and Names
The WAN subsystem contains several SCF objects. Envoy uses the DEVICE, PROFILE,
PROCESS, and LINE objects.
PROFILE
The PROFILE object is a user-created, SCF object containing default modifier values
pertaining to the communications line. You build the PROFILE object from disk files, or
templates, which come with the Envoy product. These disk files come with default
modifier values for each communications protocol ($ENV01, $ASCA, $BSCA, and so
on).
Note. ENVOY is the Envoy subsystem keyword for online help.
