Online Help is available for EMS Analyzer. Help provides general information about
EMS Analyzer objects and commands and comes in menu mode or command mode.
Architecture
Figure 1-1 illustrates the EMS Analyzer architecture. Tandem subsystems or your own
subsystems send event messages to a collector, for example $0 or an alternate collector.
These messages are logged in EMS log files. The events from either the collector or the
log files are filtered by the EMS Analyzer filter (either the default filter as shown or your
own filter). EMS Analyzer sends the selected events to a terminal, the spooler, or a
database (Enscribe or CSV file). OBEY
files can be used as input files to EMS Analyzer.
Features
EMS Analyzer performs the following:
Accesses a collector or an EMS log file as the source of event messages.
Filters event messages from a collector or EMS log file based on search criteria
defined in the EMS Analyzer default filter (EMSAFLTR). You can configure these
search criteria: start time, stop time, event type, event number, subsystem ID,
process ID, system, logical device, and text string.
Provides selected event messages in text, token (detail optional), or both.
Routes selected event messages to a designated location, such as terminal, spooler,
Enscribe database, or CSV file.
Provides static and dynamic information about the EMS Analyzer distributor or any
other EMS distributor.
