SET Command
Exchange/RJE Commands

station is not sending any data) before terminating the read operation. Valid
values for this parameter are -1 and from 0 through 32767.
Specifying -1 indicates an unlimited number of retries. If you specify a value
from 0 through 32767, the specified number of retries are allowed, after which
the read operation is terminated.
The RETRIESIDLE value can be set in both the SET and RECEIVE commands;
if you specify it in both places, Exchange/RJE uses the value in the RECEIVE
command. If you omit this parameter in the RECEIVE command, but include
it in the SET command, Exchange/RJE uses the value in the SET command.
This parameter can be reset to the default value by using the RESET
command; it is automatically reset to the default value after a DISCONNECT
or EXIT command. The current value is displayed with the SET information in
response to a SHOW command.
If you omit this parameter in both the SET and RECEIVE commands, the
default value is -1.
S[ERVER] [\
system
.]$
name
specifies the name of the Exchange/RJE line server and, optionally, the system
on which it resides. This parameter causes the next CONNECT command to
start a named line server or connect to an existing line server. If you omit this
parameter, a temporary line server is started by the next CONNECT command
(assuming you did not name a line server in the RJECIR command that started
the command interpreter).
name
can be from one to five alphanumeric characters, the first of which must
be a letter. If the system name is also specified,
name
can be no longer than
four characters.
If you specify \
system
in both the PROGRAM parameter and the SERVER
parameter, you must specify the same system in both parameters.
For complete information on how this parameter and the PROGRAM
parameter control the operation of the CONNECT command in starting a new
line server or connecting to an existing line server, see “Considerations”
below.
T[RACE] { ON | OFF }
specifies whether you must start the Exchange/RJE trace server (with the
TRACE command) to successfully complete the connection.
If you specify TRACE ON, the Exchange/RJE trace server must be started
before the connection can be established. After you issue the CONNECT
command, use the TRACE command to start the trace server.
If you specify TRACE ON,
logon-file
is not sent until you have started the
trace server.
