Starting a Remote, Temporary Line Server
If you want the first CONNECT command to start a temporary line server on a system
other than the system on which the Exchange/RJE command interpreter resides,
specify the system on which you want to start the line server in the PROGRAM
parameter. You also need to specify in the PROGRAM parameter the volume and
subvolume on that system that contain the RJESV program file (usually
$SYSTEM.SYSTEM). Omit the SERVER parameter.
Starting a Local, Named Line Server
If you want the first CONNECT command to start a named line server on the system
on which the Exchange/RJE command interpreter resides, name the line server in the
SERVER parameter. Omit the PROGRAM parameter.
Starting a Remote, Named Line Server
If you want the first CONNECT command to start a named line server on a system
other than the system on which the Exchange/RJE command interpreter resides,
specify the system on which you want to start the line server in the PROGRAM
parameter. You also need to specify in the PROGRAM parameter the volume and
subvolume on that system that contain the RJESV program file (usually
$SYSTEM.SYSTEM). Name the line server, including the same system name specified
in the PROGRAM parameter, in the SERVER parameter.
Note If you name a nonexistent line server on a remote system in the SERVER parameter and do not also
specify the program file on that system in the PROGRAM parameter, the first CONNECT command starts
a line server with the specified name on the local system regardless of the system you specified in the
SERVER parameter. Starting a named line server on a remote system requires both the SERVER
parameter and the PROGRAM parameter.
Connecting to a Local, Named Line Server
If you want the first CONNECT command to connect to an existing named line server
on the system on which the Exchange/RJE command interpreter resides, name that
line server in the SERVER parameter. Omit the PROGRAM parameter.
The data communications line and the ACU specifications current at the time of the
CONNECT command must be the same data communications line and ACU that were
specified when the line server was started.
Connecting to a Remote, Named Line Server
If you want the first CONNECT command to connect to an existing named line server
on a system other than the system on which the Exchange/RJE command interpreter
resides, name that line server and the system on which it resides in the SERVER
parameter. Omit the PROGRAM parameter.
