emulation-type
specifies the type of emulation to perform.
emulation-type
must be one of the
following terms:
2[780] Emulates an IBM 2780 Data Transmission Terminal
3[780] Emulates an IBM 3780 Data Communications Terminal
This parameter is required.
For block mode with blocking, this parameter determines the type of blocking
(2780 or 3780). For block mode without blocking, this parameter is ignored.
parameter
is one of the following terms:
D[IAL]
phone-number
specifies the telephone number of the remote system. The telephone number
can be up to 32 characters long and can contain parentheses, hyphens (-),
blanks, slashes (/), vertical bars (|), equal signs (=), and less-than symbols (<),
in addition to the digits 0 through 9. (If blanks are included, the entire number
must be enclosed within single quotation marks [‘ ’].)
If a telephone number is specified in the DIAL parameter and a user library is
also specified (using the SET USERLIB command or the USERLIB parameter
in the RJECIR command), Exchange/RJE passes the telephone number to the
user-exit procedure exactly as it was specified in this DIAL parameter (no
special characters are removed). The DIAL parameter must be included in the
CONNECT command for the user-exit procedure to be called.
If you are using an ACU, Exchange/RJE removes parentheses, hyphens,
blanks, and slashes before passing the telephone number to Envoy, which in
turn passes the telephone number to the ACU for dialing. The special
characters vertical bar (|), equal sign (=), and the less-than symbol (<) have
the following meanings when included in the telephone number:
| Specifies a pause in dialing. The duration of the pause is specified during
system generation.
= Has the same meaning as the vertical bar (|).
