LOGON Parameter
The LOGON parameter operates exactly like a SEND command. It transmits the
specified file to the remote system. See the SEND command later in this section for
more information on send operations.
Considerations The CONNECT command establishes a connection between the command interpreter,
the send/receive server, the line server, and the data communications line.
Before you can use the SEND and RECEIVE commands, you must establish the
connection using the CONNECT command. Before you can use the CONNECT
command, you must specify the data communications line that you want to use. To
specify the data communications line, use the LINE parameter in the RJECIR
command when you start the command interpreter or use the LINE parameter in the
SET command after you have started the command interpreter.
The connection established by the CONNECT command remains in effect until you
issue a DISCONNECT command or an EXIT command. If you issue a CONNECT
command while a preceding CONNECT command is still in effect, an error message is
displayed and the existing connection is not altered. To change a connection, you
must first end the existing connection with the DISCONNECT command, set the new
configuration parameters with the SET command, and then establish the new
connection with the CONNECT command.
If you specify TRACE ON in either the RJECIR command or SET command and wish
to specify LOGON
filename
in the CONNECT command, you must issue a TRACE
command to start the trace server immediately after the CONNECT command. The
CONNECT does not complete and the logon command is not sent until after the
TRACE command is entered.
Exchange/RJE Send/Receive Server
The CONNECT command starts the send/receive server and assigns it a temporary
process name. The send/receive server is stopped by a DISCONNECT or EXIT
command.
Exchange/RJE Line Server
The CONNECT command either starts a new line server or connects to an existing line
server. The SERVER and PROGRAM parameters in the RJECIR and SET commands
control whether the CONNECT command starts a new line server or connects to an
existing line server. For a complete description of how these parameters control the
operation of the CONNECT command, see the RJECIR command at the beginning of
this section and the SET command later in this section.
Every user who uses RJECIR to start a new line server must have write access to
RJESV, the line server object file.
