The RETRIESEOT value can be set in both the SET and RECEIVE commands;
if you specify it in both places, Exchange/RJE uses the value in the RECEIVE
command. If you omit this parameter in this command, but include it in the
SET command, Exchange/RJE uses the value in the SET command. This
parameter can be reset to the default value by using the RESET command; it is
automatically reset to the default value after a DISCONNECT or EXIT
command. The current value is displayed with the SET information in
response to a SHOW command.
If you omit this parameter in both the SET and RECEIVE commands, the
default value is -1.
RETRIESI[DLE]
number
specifies the maximum number of times Exchange/RJE retries the read
operation after receiving a timeout error on an idle line (where the remote
station is not sending any data) before terminating the read operation. Valid
values for this parameter are -1 and from 0 through 32767.
Specifying -1 indicates an unlimited number of retries. If you specify a value 0
through 32767, the specified number of retries are allowed, after which the
read operation is terminated.
The RETRIESIDLE value can be set in both the SET and RECEIVE commands;
if you specify it in both places, Exchange/RJE uses the value in the RECEIVE
command. If you omit this parameter in the RECEIVE command, but include
it in the SET command, Exchange/RJE uses the value in the SET command.
This parameter can be reset to the default value by using the RESET
command; it is automatically reset to the default value after a DISCONNECT
or EXIT command. The current value is displayed with the SET information in
response to a SHOW command.
If you omit this parameter in both the SET and RECEIVE commands, the
default value is -1.
T[RANSLATE] | NOT[RANSLATE]
controls the translation from EBCDIC to ASCII of data received as transparent
text. This parameter applies to both ASCII and EBCDIC data communications
lines. However, while Exchange/RJE allows the use of transparent text with
ASCII data communications lines, IBM 2780 and 3780 terminals do not
support the use of transparent text with ASCII data communications lines.
This parameter does not control the translation of data received as normal text.
See “Considerations” for information about the translation of normal text.
If you specify NOTRANSLATE and the remote system sends the data as
transparent text (each text block begins with DLE STX), no translation takes
place and the data is written to the print file exactly as received.
