Starting the Line, PUs, and
LUs in the Host
Start the line, PUs, and LUs in the Tandem side before issuing the corresponding
VTAM commands to start the PUs and LUs. If the line, PUs, and LUs have not been
started in the Tandem side first, the VTAM commands will fail. After the line, PUs,
and LUs have been started in the Tandem side, these entities must be activated in the
host using the following sequence of VTAM commands:
V NET,ACT,ID=LINE22 (Start the IBM side of the line)
V NET,ACT,ID=PU22C2 (Start EXCHANGE/SNA PU2)
V NET,ACT,ID=PU22C201 (Start EXCHANGE/SNA LU1 on PU2)
V NET,ACT,ID=PU22C202 (Start EXCHANGE/SNA LU2 on PU2)
V NET,ACT,ID=PU22C203 (Start EXCHANGE/SNA LU3 on PU2)
V NET,ACT,ID=PU22C204 (Start EXCHANGE/SNA LU4 on PU2)
V NET,ACT,ID=PU22C205 (Start EXCHANGE/SNA LU5 on PU2)
V NET,ACT,ID=PU22C206 (Start EXCHANGE/SNA LU6 on PU2)
Instead of the above sequence of commands, you can use a single command to start all
PUs and LUs associated with a particular line. Start the PUs and LUs on the IBM side
of the line using the following command. The line, PUs, and LUs must have been
started in the Tandem side before this command is issued.
V NET,ACT,ID=LINE22,SCOPE=ALL
Starting Exchange/SNA in
the Host
Once the Exchange/SNA PUs and LUs have been activated in the host, the connection
to Exchange/SNA must be activated in the host. For example, if you are using JES2,
issue the following sequence of commands:
$START LOGON1
$START LINE10
