Sending and Receiving
Files Using the
Command Interpreter
This subsection provides instructions on how to use the Exchange/SNA command
interpreter to send files to and receive files from a host system.
Most uses of the command interpreter follow the same general sequence of steps:
1. Start the command interpreter.
2. Set the configuration parameters.
3. Establish the connection with the line server.
4. Perform the operation.
5. End the connection with the line server.
6. Stop the command interpreter.
Each step is explained in detail below.
Step 1: Start the Command
Interpreter
Before you can use the Exchange/SNA command interpreter, you must start it. The
RJECIS command starts the command interpreter. The RJECIS command is an implied
RUN command; you enter it at any command interpreter prompt. For a description of
the RJECIS command, see Section 3. For a description of the RUN command, see the
TACL Reference Manual.
Step 2: Set the
Configuration Parameters
The configuration parameters specify the Exchange/SNA line server that you want to
use and, when you are starting a new line server, the configuration of the new line
server. You can use the SET command to specify the configuration parameters. You
can also specify the configuration parameters in the RJECIS command that you use to
start the command interpreter.
When specifying configuration parameters, there are two cases to consider. One case
is when you intend to start a new line server by using a subsequent CONNECT
command. The other case is when you intend to connect to an existing line server by
using a subsequent CONNECT command. Each case is discussed below.
