ABORT Command The ABORT command stops one or more send or receive operations initiated by the
current Exchange/SNA command interpreter.
ABORT [ #
subdevice
| * ]
#
subdevice
specifies an individual subdevice or a class of subdevices, such as printer
subdevices. All active send and receive operations initiated by this
Exchange/SNA command interpreter on the specified individual subdevice or the
specified class of subdevices are stopped.
subdevice
consists of the name of a class of subdevices and, optionally, the unit
number of an individual subdevice within the specified class of subdevices. The
unit number must immediately follow the subdevice class name, with no
intervening blanks.
The subdevice class name must be one to six alphanumeric characters, of which
the first must be a letter. It must be the name of a subdevice class that was defined
when the line server was started.
The unit number must be a number between one and the maximum number of
subdevices of the specified class that are supported by the line server. If you
specify the unit number, only the send or receive operation associated with that
particular subdevice is stopped. If you omit the unit number, or if you specify unit
number 0, all active send and receive operations associated with all subdevices of
the specified class are stopped.
*
specifies all subdevices in all classes. In this case, all active send and receive
operations initiated by this Exchange/SNA command interpreter are stopped.
If you omit both #
subdevice
and *, all send and receive operations initiated by this
Exchange/SNA command interpreter are stopped.
Considerations The ABORT command stops the send and receive operations associated with an
individual subdevice, a class of subdevices, or all subdevices. In all cases, the
command stops only those send and receive operations initiated by the
Exchange/SNA command interpreter that executes the ABORT command. Send and
receive operations initiated by other Exchange/SNA command interpreters using the
same line server are not stopped.
When a send operation is aborted, Exchange/SNA terminates the data stream by
sending to the host system a type 1 function management header with abort
destination selection (ADS) specified.
