FC Command The FC command lets you edit the most recent command and enables the edited
command to be executed.
FC
Considerations The FC command lets you edit your most recent command. You can then execute the
edited command.
After you enter the FC command and press RETURN, your last command is
displayed. On the line below, a prompt (“.”) is displayed. Use the space bar to move
the cursor under the part of the command you want to edit. You then use the
following editing characters to edit the command.
D Deletes the character above the D. You can enter a string of Ds to delete
a string of characters. You can also follow a D with one of the other
editing characters. For example, DI deletes one character and then
inserts the characters following the I.
I Inserts the characters that follow the I into the command before the
character above the I. Any editing characters (other than //) that follow
the I are treated as characters to be inserted in the command. For
example, IDIAL inserts the characters DIAL. The D and the second I are
not treated as editing characters.
R Replaces characters in the command with the characters that follow the
R. The replacement starts with the character in the command above the
R. Any editing characters (other than //) that follow the R replace
characters in the command. For example, RDIAL replaces four
characters in the command with DIAL. The D and the I are not treated
as editing characters.
If you enter any characters other than the editing characters, the
characters you enter replace the corresponding characters in the
command. All nonediting characters perform an implicit replace
operation.
<RETURN> Lets you edit the command again or causes the edited command to be
executed.
If you press the RETURN key after entering one or more characters
(other than //) in response to the FC command prompt (.), the edited
command is displayed on a new line, and underneath it the FC
command prompt is displayed again. You can then continue editing the
command.
If you press the RETURN key in response to the FC command prompt
(.) without first entering anything else, the edited command is
submitted to the Exchange/SNA command interpreter for execution.
