receive-file
is the name of the file to which the records received from the host are written. If
the file does not exist, an EDIT-format file is created. If the file already exists, the
new records are appended to the file.
If you do not specify a receive file, the records are written to the receive file last
associated with the specified subdevice in a RECEIVE command. If you have not
associated a receive file with the specified subdevice in a previous RECEIVE
command, an error message is displayed and the receive operation is not started.
If you omit the volume name, your current default volume is used. If you omit
both the volume and subvolume names, your current default volume and
subvolume are used.
subdevice
specifies whether this receive operation uses a printer subdevice or a punch
subdevice and, optionally, the particular printer or punch subdevice to use.
subdevice
consists of the name of the class of printer or punch subdevices and,
optionally, the unit number of an individual printer or punch subdevice. The unit
number must immediately follow the subdevice class name, with no intervening
blanks.
The subdevice class name must be one to six alphanumeric characters, of which
the first must be a letter. It must be the name of the printer or punch subdevice
class that was defined when the line server was started.
The unit number must be a number between one and the maximum number of
subdevices of the specified class that are supported by the line server. If you
specify the unit number, the receive operation uses that particular subdevice. If
you omit the unit number, the first available subdevice within the specified class
(printers or punches) is used.
If you omit this parameter, the first available printer subdevice is used.
