Exchange/SNA Manual

SET Command
Exchange/SNA Commands
3–50 104700 Tandem Computers Incorporated
Exchange/SNA line server. If defined, the console subdevice is shared by all
processes using that line server. Any messages sent from the host to the
console subdevice are received by all processes that are using the line server
(and have opened the console subdevice).
name
is the name of the console subdevice. The name can be up to six
alphanumeric characters, of which the first must be a letter. If you omit
name
, the default name is CN.
opens
specifies the number of times the console subdevice can be opened at once
and is required. The range is from 0 to 7. If you specify 0, no console
subdevice is defined for the line server. Each Exchange/SNA command
interpreter that connects to a given line server opens that line server’s
console subdevice if one was defined when the line server was started.
If you omit this parameter, no console subdevice is defined for the line server.
This parameter applies only when the Exchange/SNA line server does not yet
exist. After the line server has been created, you cannot change the console
subdevice specification for that line server.
EN[DTIMED]
seconds
specifies the amount of time that the RECEIVE command with the END
TIMED parameter specified is to wait for another file to be transmitted.
seconds
can have a value from 15 through 32767. There may be a several-
second delay between the time the line server receives the first part of the file
and the time the send/receive server receives the first part of that file.
seconds
must account for this delay, as well as the time between the end of
one file and the beginning of the next.
SET ENDTIMED can be entered at any time and affects all subsequent
RECEIVE commands with END TIMED specified. This command does not
affect any RECEIVE commands in progress when the command is entered.
The default value for this parameter is 15 seconds.
HO[ST] { RES | JES2 | JES3 | RSCS }
specifies the remote job entry (RJE) subsystem on the host with which
Exchange/SNA will be communicating. You must specify one of the four host
RJE subsystems that Exchange/SNA supports: RES, JES2, JES3, or RSCS.
This parameter applies only when the Exchange/SNA line server does not yet
exist. After the line server has been created, you cannot change the host RJE
subsystem specification.
