SET Command
Exchange/SNA Commands
104700 Tandem Computers Incorporated 3–59
In addition to the SET command, you can specify the configuration parameters in the
RJECIS command that starts the Exchange/SNA command interpreter. You can set
one or more configuration parameters to their initial or default values with the RESET
command; see the RESET command description earlier in this section.
Limits to Number of Supported Subdevices
The total number of subdevices supported by a line server, including the console
subdevice, should not exceed the number of LUs available for the line server to use.
The maximum configuration then is six LUs and six subdevices (including the console
subdevice if any).
If you set up the line server so that it supports more subdevices than the number of
subdevices, the following problem occurs. If all LUs are in use for nonconsole data
streams and you request that console data be sent to the host, one of the data streams
is suspended to make an LU available for the console data. The suspended data
stream remains suspended indefinitely; Exchange/SNA does not resume transmission
of the suspended data stream.
Examples 1. This example shows the use of the SET command to specify the minimum number
of configuration parameters that must be specified to connect to an existing line
server using the CONNECT command with the exclamation point.
>SET NAME $SNAX1
2. This example shows the use of the SET command to specify the minimum number
of configuration parameters that must be specified to start a new line server.
>SET LOGON LOGRMT10, HOST JES2, LINE $SNA5.#LUC101
3. This example shows the use of the SET command to specify the configuration
parameters for a new, named line server that supports two printer subdevices, two
card-reader subdevices, no punches, and a console that allows a maximum of six
opens.
>SET LOGON LOGRMT10,LOGOFF LOG10OFF,HOST JES2,LINE $SNA5.#LUC101,NAME $SNAX1
>SET CONSOLE (6,CN), PRINTER 2, PUNCH 0, READER 2
>SET COMMAND ($,SEND)
4. This example shows the use of the SET command to specify the configuration
parameters required to start a named line server on a remote system. The new line
server has the default configuration of subdevices.
>SET PROGRAM \snaqa.$system.system.snaxsv
>SET NAME \snaqa.$RMT1
>SET LINE \snaqa.$SNA5.#LUC101
>SET HOST JES2
>SET LOGON logrmt10
