Step 1 (B): Select a TCPSAM Process and SUBNET
for Parallel Library TCP/IP Use
Step 1 (B): Select a TCPSAM Process and
SUBNET for Parallel Library TCP/IP Use
Step 1 (B) is for use with the Parallel Library version of TCP/IP only.
The Parallel Library version of TCP/IP only supports SUBNETs of type Ethernet.
A Parallel Library TCP/IP SUBNET associates the Parallel Library TCP/IP environment
with a connection to a network and an IP address.
Select a TCPSAM Process
The TCP/IP socket access method (TCPSAM) is the process that provides access to
the Parallel Library TCP/IP environment. In configuring Expand-over-IP for this
environment, you will be using the name of a TCPSAM process for the
ASSOCIATEDEV modifier in Step 4: Create the Line-Handler Process.
To obtain a list of running TCPSAM processes, issue the following command:
> LISTDEV TCPIP
The SCF LISTDEV command lists all the TCP/IP processes. A program name in the
SCF LISTDEV display of TCPIP means that it's a conventional NonStop TCP/IP
process whereas a program name of TCPSAM means it's a Parallel Library TCP/IP
process. Example 8-3 shows a sample result of the SCF LISTDEV TCPIP command.
In the above example, the processes $ZSAM1 and $ZSAM2 are TCPSAM processes.
For the rest of this procedure, we will use $ZSAM1 as our TCPSAM process.
Note. The following instructions assume that a Parallel Library TCP/IP environment has
already been started. For information about starting a Parallel Library TCP/IP environment,
refer to the TCP/IP (Parallel Library) Configuration and Management Manual.
