Relationship to the Enterprise Storage System
(ESS)
slot
is the FCSA physical slot number in the IOAM:
sac
identifies one of the ServerNet Addressable Controllers (SACs) inside the FCSA.
SACs are designated either 1 or 2.
number
indicates the position of the device within the system.
Relationship to the Enterprise Storage System
(ESS)
The FCSA provides connectivity to the ESS. Certain attributes of the adapter are
automatically added to the system configuration database, but you must configure the
paths to the disks.
To perform the ADD DISK task (see DISK Configuration (ESS Connection) on
page 2-15), you must coordinate with the ESS administrator and the FC switch
administrator (if an FC switch is used) to receive information about the following
attributes specified in the ADD DISK command:
ESS port worldwide names (WWN)
ESS logical units (LUNs)
In addition, you must provide the WWNs of the fibre-channel ports on the FCSA to the
FC switch and ESS administrators so that they can update the host group WWNs in
the ESS and the zones in the SAN. This allows the new FCSA to be recognized by the
FC switch and the ESS.
Figure 1-7 shows an example of two paths from the processors through the FCSAs to
the storage subsystem. More complicated paths are likely, but Figure 1-7 relates the
SCF attributes to the storage subsystem path. The SCF attributes shown in the figure
are discussed after the figure
Number Description
1 to 5 For the FCSA.
Note. Adding or updating WWNs in the ESS and SAN zones is not required if the FCSA ports
are directly connected to the ESS FC ports.
