Gather the Proper Tools
•
Decide which of the fibre channel disks serve as primary disks and which serve as
mirror disks
HP provides two forms to help in these tasks:
•
Configuration Form for Primary and Backup Disks
•
Configuration Form for Mirror and Mirror Backup Disks
HP also provides a SCF Disk Volume Configuration Form to help you record each
primary and mirrored disk that form part of a disk volume. For the sake of fault
tolerance, ensure that:
•
Primary disks and mirror disks are connected to different FCSAs.
•
Primary disks and mirror disks are located in separate disk drive enclosures or in
the case of daisy-chained disk drive enclosures, in separate chains.

You can purchase an ESD kit from HP or from a local electronics store.
Review Standard Operating Practices
Standard operating practices include:
•
Obtaining an ESD protection kit and following the directions that come with the kit.
•
Ensuring that your ESD protection kit contains an antistatic table mat and that your
ESD wrist strap has a built-in series resistor.
•
Removing all metal accessories before working with the equipment.
•
Restraining any dangling items that can get caught in equipment.
•
Working in an ESD-protected environment (see Figure 2-1).
