Install the FCSA

1. Disconnect the grounding clip of your ESD wrist strap from the antistatic mat, then

connect it to an unpainted metal surface on the FCSA.

2. Grasp the FCSA by its purple ejector latch in one hand, while supporting the

bottom edge of the FCSA with the other hand. Carry the FCSA to the rear of the

IOAM enclosure. Set the FCSA down on an antistatic mat with the ejector latch at

the top.

3. Disconnect the grounding clip of your ESD wrist strap from the FCSA and connect

it to an unpainted metal surface on the IOAM enclosure or on the rack in which the

enclosure is installed.

4. Using both hands, hold the FCSA so that its ejector latch is at the top and its

faceplate is facing toward you. Insert the adapter into its slot in the enclosure. Push

the FCSA to the rear of its slot, but don’t force it.

Note. The FCSA weighs approximately 7.25 pounds (3 kilograms).

Caution. To avoid damaging the connector pins, apply equal pressure to both the top and

bottom of the FCSA when pushing it into its slot. If you try to push the FCSA into its slot when

the pins in either the FCSA or the midplane are damaged, you must replace both the FCSA

and the enclosure.
