4 Relocating an FCSA
This section describes how to relocate an FCSA that has been previously installed in
an IOAM enclosure.
Overview of FCSA Replacement Procedures
When you move an FCSA but retain the path to the ESS, you can retain many of the
DISK attributes but you must use the SCF ALTER command to change the location
and backup location attributes.
In addition, you may need to have the ESS or FC switch administrators update the
WWN zones in the SAN with the FCSA’s new location so that the new paths work.
However, it may not be necessary to update the zoning if the FCSA is being moved
and the external connections remain the same. It is only necessary to update the
zoning if the FCSA is being moved and the external connections are being
reconfigured logically and physically. Check with the ESS or FC switch administrators
to see if the relocation procedure that you are planning requires an update to the WWN
zoning.
Note. An FCSA can be relocated without shutting down the system.

Note. Whenever you handle an FCSA, you should follow standard operating practices to avoid
damage to the equipment. See Review Standard Operating Practices on page 4-3.
Note. There can be 256 DISK objects configured on an FCSA SAC.
Note. Adding or updating WWNs in the ESS is not required if the FCSA ports are directly
connected to the ESS FC ports.
