•
Define FCSAs in different modules in an IOAM enclosure or, better still, in different
IOAM enclosures for the primary and backup DISK paths
ESS Connections
For connections to an ESS:
•
Define different FC switches for the primary and backup DISK paths
•
Define different ESSes for the primary and backup DISK images
For more information about fault-tolerance planning, see the Modular I/O Installation
and Configuration Guide.
In order to complete the configuration form and perform the step DISK Configuration
(ESS Connection) on page 2-15, you must obtain information from the ESS
administrator. (Again, the choices about ports and LUNs provided by the ESS
administrator should be determined by the overall, fault-tolerance strategy.)
For more information about fault-tolerance planning, see the Modular I/O Installation
and Configuration Guide.
Disk Drive Enclosure Connections
Connections to M8xxx fibre channel disks in a disk drive enclosure require not only that
FCSAs be defined through its group, module, and slot designations, but that disk drive
enclosures be defined though shelf designations and that individual disks be defined
through bay designations.
For purposes of fault-tolerance, you must choose bays on different shelves or in
different chains of shelves when you locate primary and mirror disks. The system does
not allow the of location primary and mirror disks on the same shelf or chain of shelves.
For more information about fault-tolerance planning, see the Modular I/O Installation
and Configuration Guide.

ESS Connections
Print out the FCSA Configuration Form and the FCSA to ESS Connection Form from
Appendix A, FCSA Configuration Forms for ESS Connections. If you are installing
more than one FCSA, you will need to do a FCSA Configuration Form for each FCSA.
You can use one FCSA to ESS Connection Form to record information about the
WWNs of eight FCSAs. (Each FCSA requires two lines, one for each SAC.) You will
not be able to complete the SAC 1 WWN and SAC 2 WWN information during this
procedure; some of the fields must be obtained by using SCF to add a DISK after the
FCSA is physically installed (see Obtain the Fibre Channel Port WWNs and Complete
the FCSA to ESS Configuration Form on page 2-17).
1. Record the FCSA’s Part Number and Track ID on Your FCSA Configuration Form.
