Start the DISK
ADD the DISK
Using the information that you obtained in Start Completing the Configuration Forms on
page 2-4, configure an SCF disk volume object for use with the ESS.
The example shows an SCF ADD command that adds a mirrored DISK volume object
for a hardware configuration consisting of two FCSA adapters. Because you may have
to run this configuration procedure several times, it is best to create a command file.

Start the DISK
After the DISK volume is added, use the START command to start it.
-> START DISK $DISK02
Note. The ADD DISK command initializes both FCSAs in the example above.
Note. At this point, the disk most likely will not start successfully. The FC cables have not
been connected to the array or to the switch ports and the WWNs have not been configured in
the switch and array. This START only forces a download of code to the FCSA, which results
in the FCSA being able to report its port WWNs. However, if the cables are connected using
direct connect, the LUNs are configured on the array, and the ADD DISK command has the
right information, this START will successfully start the disk.
