Fibre Channel ServerNet Adapter Installation and Support Guide (G06.28+, H06.06+, J06.03+)
FCDM Connections
Print the configuration forms in Appendix B, FCSA Configuration Forms for Fibre Channel Disk
Module (FCDM) Connections. When you connect the FCSA to an FCDM or to a chain of FCDMs:
• Record the shelf number (or numbers) and circle the bay numbers available for incorporation
into configured SCF disk volumes.
• Decide which of the fibre channel disks serve as primary disks and which serve as mirror
disks
HP provides two forms to help in these tasks:
• Configuration Form for Primary and Backup Disks
• Configuration Form for Mirror and Mirror Backup Disks
HP also provides a SCF Disk Volume Configuration Form to help you record each primary and
mirrored disk that form part of a disk volume. For fault tolerance, ensure that:
• Primary disks and mirror disks are connected to different FCSAs.
• Primary disks and mirror disks are located in separate FCDMs or, in the case of daisy-chained
FCDMs, in separate chains.

Review Standard Operating Practices
Standard operating practices include:
• Obtaining an ESD protection kit and following the directions that come with the kit.
• Ensuring that your ESD protection kit contains an antistatic table mat and that your ESD
wrist strap has a built-in series resistor.
• Removing all metal accessories before working with the equipment.
• Restraining any dangling items that can get caught in equipment.
• Working in an ESD-protected environment. (See Figure 2-1.)
