Fibre Channel ServerNet Adapter Installation and Support Guide (G06.28+, H06.06+, J06.03+)

Tasks for ESS Connections
1. “Download the Firmware” (page 40)
2. “Obtain the Fibre Channel Port WWNs and Complete the FCSA to ESS Configuration Form”
(page 41)
3. “Connect External Paths” (page 44)
Download the Firmware
The WWNs of the FCSA fibre channel ports are programmed into the FCSA at the factory so that
they are worldwide unique. When you first install the FCSA, you need to download the firmware
by adding and starting disks for the WWNs to become visible in the STATUS ADAPTER
command. You need these WWNs to complete the FCSA to ESS Connection Form that you must
give to the ESS administrator.
Firmware Download Checklist
1. Add the Disk
2. Start the Disk
ADD the Disk
Using the information that you obtained in “Start Completing the Configuration Forms ”
(page 31), configure an SCF disk volume object for use with the ESS.
The example shows an SCF ADD command that adds a mirrored DISK volume object for a
hardware configuration consisting of two FCSA adapters. Because you might have to run this
configuration procedure several times, it is best to create a command file.
-> ADD DISK $DISK02, SENDTO STORAGE,&
-> PRIMARYCPU 01 &
-> BACKUPCPU 02 &
-> PRIMARYLOCATION (11,2,5), &
-> PRIMARYSAC 1, &
-> BACKUPLOCATION (11,3,5), &
-> BACKUPSAC 1, &
-> MIRRORLOCATION (11,3,5), &
-> MIRRORSAC 2, &
-> MBACKUPLOCATION (11,2,5), &
-> MBACKUPSAC 2 &
-> PRIMARYPORTNAME 50060E8003501213, &
-> BACKUPPORTNAME 50060E8003501225 &
-> PRIMARYLUN 16 &
-> MIRRORPORTNAME 50060E8003501241, &
-> MBACKUPPORTNAME 50060E8003501243, &
-> MIRRORLUN 17
NOTE: The ADD DISK command initializes both FCSAs in the example preceding.
Start the Disk
After the DISK volume is added, use the START command to start it:
-> START DISK $DISK02
