Troubleshoot the Disk Configuration
If you receive errors when you try to start the DISK object, go into the OSM Event Viewer, specify
Real Time, and view the service log ($ZLOG). ($ZLOG has the lowest-level errors.)
Error -2 or 190
If the file system returns an error -2 or 190 when you issue the START DISK command, you might
need to initialize the disk by using the INITIALIZE DISK command. You need to initialize the
disk if the LDEV has never been used by the NonStop server before or if the LDEV has been used
by another host operating system.
For information about the INITIALIZE DISK command, see the SCF Reference Manual for the
Storage Subsystem.
CAUTION: If the LDEV has been used by a NonStop server before and you initialize the disk,
all data on the disk image will be lost.
If you initialize the disk, issue another SCF START DISK command to start the disk volume.
Error 66
If the file system returns an error 66, the FCSA cannot see the ESS or FC switch port. Possible
causes:
The SAN zone has not been set up correctly to include the FCSA and ESS WWNs or ports.
This mistake appears as “FC Device Unavailable” in the OSM service log. (FC Device
Unavailable means that the port on the ESS did not respond.)
You specified an incorrect ESS port WWN in the SCF ADD DISK command. This mistake
appears as “FC Device Unavailable” in the OSM service log. (FC Device Unavailable means
that the port on the ESS did not respond.) This error occurs only if the LUN is not configured
for the port or the host group on the ESS. If the LUN exists, symptoms other than error 66
occur.
You specified an incorrect LUN in the SCF ADD DISK command. This mistake appears as
“Illegal request for the disk” in the OSM service log.
The fibre channel cable from the FCSA is connected to the wrong place or is broken. If it is
broken, the lights by the FC port do not show that the link is up.
