The empty slot contains a double-high filler pane. Remove the filler panel from the slot
where you are relocating the FCSA. Set aside the filler panel. You will reinstall the filler
panel in the slot left vacant by the FCSA you move.
8. Change the Labels on the fibre channel cables:
a. Remove the existing labels.
b. Follow the procedure described in “Label the Cables” (page 38) to label the FC cables
with the new location information.
9. Follow the procedure described in Start Completing the Configuration Forms on page 2-4
to complete new configuration forms for the relocated FCSA

Remove the Adapter
1. Disconnect the fibre channel cables one at a time by squeezing the plastic retaining clip at
the end of the cable and gently pulling.
2. Protect the equipment from electrostatic discharge:
a. Place an antistatic table mat on a flat horizontal work surface near the IOAM enclosure.
b. Put on an ESD wrist strap.
c. Attach the grounding clip from the ESD wrist strap to any unpainted metal surface on
the IOAM enclosure or on the rack in which the enclosure is installed.
CAUTION: Do not attach the ESD grounding clip to doors or to any painted surface.
3. Press down on the purple ejector latch and pull the FCSA’s handle outward to unseat the
adapter. (See Figure 3-1, Pressing Down on the Latch, on page 3-9.)
4. Grasp the FCSA by its ejector in one hand and pull the adapter out of its slot while supporting
the bottom edge of the FCSA with the other hand.
NOTE: The FCSA weighs approximately 7.25 pounds (3 kilograms).
Install the FCSA in its New Slot
NOTE: Make sure that you reinstall a filler panel in the empty adapter slot.
