2 Operating System The G06.25 RVU contains these operating system changes: • NonStop Operating System Message Quick Cells NonStop Operating System Message Quick Cells The NonStop operating system now can create and manage a larger number of message quick cells (MQCs), which are the data structures used to describe messages for interprocess communication. The increased number of MQCs allow more processes to communicate on large systems and improve system stability and availability.

3 Application Development Products The G06.25 RVU contains new features for this application development product: • C++ Compiler Pragmas C++ Compiler Pragmas The C/C++ compiler pragmas now offer explicit control of inlining of code and instantiation. With this feature, you can control how the C++ compiler generates code for various C++ features (such as inlining, templates, and export) to enable you to fine-tune the object size produced by the compiler.

4 Database and Transaction Processing Products The G06.25 RVU contains new features for these database and transaction processing products: • • • • DP2 Enform Optimizer NonStop SQL/MX TS/MP PATHMON DP2 DP2 has been enhanced with a new SETMODE function (function value 266), which can be used to defer cache flushing when the file is closed by the last opener. If param1 = 1, the file is closed without first flushing cache; flush occurs as a background activity.
Database and Transaction Processing Products Fallback Fallback If you encounter a problem with the Enform Optimizer version shipped with G06.25 (T9145AAI), consider falling back to the prior version (T9145AAH). Enform Optimizer includes an installation macro for fallback. Run the macro from the T9145AAH version to replace the T9145AAI version. NonStop SQL/MX HP NonStop SQL/MX Release 2.0 with support for SQL/MP tables is now generally available, and SQL/MX tables are supported in controlled availability.
5 Installation and Configuration Products The G06.25 RVU contains new features for these installation and configuration products: • • CONFTEXT DSM/SCM CONFTEXT Migration Before you upgrade to G06.24 or later RVUs, if your system includes processors with processor model 1951 (NonStop S70000 or NonStop S70000SE), you must change the processor type from NSR-G to NSR-C in the CONFTEXT file, ALLPROCESSORS statement.
Installation and Configuration Products • • • Fallback You can add a Safeguard alias anytime that Safeguard is running and before installing the SUT. Before using an existing alias for DSM/SCM, verify that Safeguard is started. Aliases are available only while Safeguard is running. ZPHIRNM can run ZMODGP in preview mode to prediscover some errors before a configuration is activated. However, not all errors can be displayed.
6 Manageability Products The G06.25 RVU contains new features for these manageability products: • • • • Backup and Restore 2.0 Measure OSM Safeguard Backup and Restore 2.0 To support SQL/MX tables, these Backup and Restore 2.0 SPRs are now included on the SUT: • • • • T2721AAC (BR 2 BRCOM) T2722AAC (BR 2 Tape Services) T2749AAC (BR 2 DMA & Cmd Stream Proc) T2750AAC (BR 2 Data Services) You can also apply these SPRs to the G06.23 and G06.24 RVUs. For Backup and Restore 2.0 highlights, see the G06.
Migration Manageability Products ° Procedure name demangling: Procedure names are now demangled for display, using the new callable procedure MEAS_CODERANGENAME_DEMANGLE_. Migration You must explicitly configure the DLL (or any object file, by specifying the object file name) to obtain PROCESSH measurements on a procedural level for that object file (DLL or non-DLL). No explicit configuration is needed to obtain PROCESSH file-level measurements.
Safeguard Manageability Products Safeguard You can now use wild cards to name objects in a diskfile access control list (ACL). The DISKFILE-PATTERN object type provides patterns you can use to protect multiple diskfiles. This new functionality is OFF by default. Migration Starting with the G06.25 RVU, including the Safeguard software in the OSIMAGE results in no TACL prompt after a system load. It is required that Safeguard be removed from the OSIMAGE in order to load the G06.25 RVU.

7 Hardware Products The G06.25 RVU contains new features for these hardware products: • • • • 4638 and 46144 Disk Drives HP Virtual Tape for NonStop Servers NonStop S78SE Server NonStop S88000SE Server 4638 and 46144 Disk Drives The 4638 and 46144 disk drives are 15,000-RMP disk devices integrated into the NonStop S-series disk CRU. The 4638 disk drive has a capacity of 36 gigabytes and is supported on G06.09 and later RVUs. The 46144 disk drive has a capacity of 144 gigabytes and is supported on G06.
Migration Hardware Products Model 1962 (S78SE) PMF FRUs feature dual-inline memory modules (DIMMS) and faster processors than earlier servers and can be ordered in these memory configurations: Memory S78SE Part Number 2 GB 526497-002 4 GB 526498-002 See the NonStop S-Series Central Office Server Installation and Service Guide for more information. Migration The NonStop S78SE server is introduced at G06.25 and supported on G06.16 and later RVUs if G06.24 SPRs for TSM or OSM are installed.
Migration Hardware Products Model 1974 (S88000SE) PMF FRUs feature dual-inline memory modules (DIMMS) and faster processors than earlier servers and can be ordered in these memory configurations: Memory S88000SE Part Number 2 GB 526493-002 4 GB 526494-002 8 GB 526495-002 16 GB 526496-002 See the NonStop S-Series Planning and Configuration Guide for more information. Migration The NonStop S88000SE server is introduced at G06.25 and supported on G06.24 and later RVUs.
Fallback Hardware Products Fallback For fallback, you do not need to downgrade the SP firmware to its previous version. If you are falling back to an RVU prior to G06.16, you must return processor boot code (T7892) back to the previous version and update the firmware before performing a system load of the previous RVU. See the G06.25 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide for information. G06.
8 Networking Products The G06.25 RVU contains new features for these networking products: • • Domain Name System (DNS) 9.2.3 SNAX/APN Domain Name System (DNS) 9.2.3 The latest version of BIND (9.2.3) is now available on NonStop servers, including these new features: • • • • • DNS protocol enhancements, including Incremental Zone Transfer (IXFR), NOTIFY, and dynamic updates for efficient zone transfer to support the increasing amount of data being exchanged between Name Servers.
Fallback Networking Products • • • • The existing BIND 4.8.3 version of DNS will continue to be shipped with G06.25 and later RVUs. No further enhancements will be accepted for this product. Both versions of DNS can coexist on the same system. However, they must be assigned different IP addresses. The OSS environment must be configured and running to use or migrate to DNS 9.2.3. The Name Server runs in the OSS environment. DNS 9.2.3 is supported on G06.25 and later RVUs. DNS 9.2.
