2 Operating System The G06.27 RVU contains these changes for the HP NonStop operating system: • • • Nonblocking Terminal I/O with OSS $ZTTnn OSS Fileset OSS Security APIs Nonblocking Terminal I/O with OSS $ZTTnn The HP NonStop Open System Services (OSS) environment has implemented a new terminal helper server process, $ZTTnn (where nn is the processor number), in each processor.
OSS Security APIs Operating System OSS Security APIs The OSS environment now supports the C setreuid() and setregid() functions to make the porting of UNIX or Linux applications easier. Changes to the effective user ID or the effective group ID cause appropriate behavior across processors within a server and between servers. Safeguard auditing also tracks the changes. G06.
3 Application Development Products The G06.27 RVU contains new features for these application development products: • • • • AXCEL Binder New C/C++ Data Type Support OCA and TNSVU AXCEL AXCEL (T9276) is modified to accept the TNS object file that has an Intel® Itanium® region augmenting it as an input file. Enhancements to AXCEL are: • • Accelerates a TNS object file that has an Itanium instruction region augmented to it by the TNS Object Code Accelerator (OCA).
Application Development Products Fallback Fallback Applications that are written or modified to take advantage of the new feature cannot be run on RVUs with pre-G06.27 millicode. OCA and TNSVU The TNS Object Code Accelerator (OCA, T0448) is available. OCA is a program optimization tool that processes a TNS object file and produces an accelerated file for a TNS/E system. OCA enables you to run and improve the performance of programs that run on TNS/E systems.
4 Database and Transaction Processing Products The G06.27 RVU contains new features for these database and transaction processing products: • • SQL/MP SQL/MX SQL/MP NonStop SQL/MP supports the REPAIR option for the SQLCI VERIFY command. The REPAIR option directs VERIFY to re-create a missing SQL object using information available in the catalog. The newly created object does not contain any data.
Database and Transaction Processing Products • • • Installation NSM/web support to set control query defaults (CQDs) and control table values for the SQL/MX Connectivity Service (MXCS). Support for the DDL_DEFAULT_LOCATIONS system default. A new system software version (MXV), current compiler version, and current plan version. In Release 2.0, the product version identifier for these items is 1200. In Release 2.1.0, the product version identifier is 1400. For more information, see the G06.
5 Installation and Configuration Products The G06.27 RVU contains new features for these installation and configuration products: • • • DSM/SCM Firmware Updates VPROC DSM/SCM • • The INITENV change option now allows you to: ° On a target system, transfer management of the target system from one existing host to another. A system load is not required. ° On a host system, change the host that is managing a target. A remote target can be managed by a different host.
Installation and Configuration Products • Firmware Updates If you performed a backout from G06.27 and backed out the migration from T6031G02 to a pre-T6031D46 PVU, you must run the FALLBACK macro. Both Safeguard and OSS management information from the DSM/SCM databases is removed.
6 Manageability Products The G06.27 RVU contains new features for these manageability products: • • • • • • • KMSF NetBatch OSM Safeguard SeeView SWID TSM KMSF Beginning with the G06.27 RVU, the default value of MAXEXTENTS for default Kernelmanaged swap files increases from 128 MB to 256 MB, resulting in maximum default swap file sizes of 256 MB per swap file. For more information, see the Kernel-Managed Swap Facility (KMSF) Manual.
OSM Manageability Products OSM OSM now supports: • • • • Fibre Channel disk drive enclosures on NonStop S-series systems. Mid-range tape libraries on NonStop S-series systems. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), which supports a secure connection between the OSM server and OSM Service Connection or OSM Notification Director. HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM), which supports the NonStop platform via WebBased Enterprise Management (WBEM) provided by OSM.
SeeView Manageability Products SeeView Both NonStop SeeView (T6965) and SeeView Server Gateway (T8488) now support high process identification numbers (PINs) and first-in-first-out (FIFO) queuing. • • • The SeeView Server Gateway SET GATEWAY HIGHPINTASKS ON/OFF option specifies how the SeeView Server Gateway starts subordinate command interpreter (CI) tasks. ON causes the Gateway to start all subordinate CI tasks as high PINs (processes with a process ID greater 255).
