OSM

OSM now supports:

•

Fibre Channel disk drive enclosures on NonStop S-series systems.

•

Mid-range tape libraries on NonStop S-series systems.

•

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), which supports a secure connection between the

OSM server and OSM Service Connection or OSM Notification Director.

•

HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM), which supports the NonStop platform via Web-

Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) provided by OSM. HP SIM is capable of

discovering NonStop systems, displaying and forwarding alarms generated by

OSM, and collecting NonStop system and device data. If SIM is installed and used

to manage NonStop systems, you must install OSM Notification Director

T0632AAN and SSL support must be enabled in OSM. For information about

OSM’s support for SSL, see the OSM Migration Guide. For information about HP

SIM on NonStop platforms, see Service Information in NTL’s Support and Service

library.

Safeguard

Safeguard has implemented two new features:

•

Multiple owners for user and alias records. This feature allows user and alias

records to have more than one owner. Previously, only one owner, called the

primary owner, was allowed. The additional owners are called secondary owners.

Secondary owners now have all the same privileges for managing user and alias

records as the primary owner.

Description fields for user and alias records. This feature enables users to

optionally associate descriptive information with user and alias records. Each

record has two description fields: a text description field and a binary description

field. The text description field can contain a text string. For the binary description

field, a structure provides fields for vendor ID, length, and data, so that multiple

vendors can share a single binary description field.

The text and binary descriptions are for documentation purposes only and have no

effect on the records.

Note. OSM’s support for SSL and HP SIM are included in the G06.27 RVU. Both HP SIM and

the requisite version of the OSM Notification Director (T0632AAN) with SSL support can be

installed from the NonStop System Console Installer Update 7 CD, which is available post-

G06.27. T0632AAN is also available as a Time Critical Fix (TCF) via Scout. For information on
