TSM Client Applications
You can have both the TSM client and the OSM client-based components on your
system consoles. However, to avoid duplicate dial-outs, use either the OSM
Notification Director (ND) or TSM Notification Director, but not both.
HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM)
Starting with Installer S7X-SWV1/HNSC-SWV1, Update 7 (post G06.27), the HP
Systems Insight Manager (SIM) is compatible with the NonStop system console. HP
SIM supports the NonStop platform via Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM)
provided by OSM. SIM is capable of discovering NonStop systems, displaying and
forwarding alarms generated by OSM, and collecting NonStop system and device data.
If SIM is installed and used to manage NonStop systems, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
support must be enabled in OSM. For more information about OSM's support for SSL,
see the OSM Migration Guide.
TSM Client Applications
After installing the appropriate software product revisions (SPRs) (see DSM/SCM
T6031G02 PVU on page 3-3), upgrade your TSM client software to T6031G02.
Use the NonStop System Console Installer to upgrade TSM applications on the
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP Professional operating system.
For instructions on using this CD to upgrade your system console, see the NonStop
System Console Installer Guide.
After installing the appropriate TSM SPR and upgrading your system console to TSM
client software Version 2005A, use the TSM Service Application and the TSM
Low-Level Link Application to update firmware and to halt and restart the system. After
you have migrated to G06.27, you can then install and configure OSM (if not previously
installed).
Starting in G06.27, the TSM installer installs the OSM Low-Level Link, which replaces
the legacy TSM Low-Level Link. While basic functionality is the same, interface
changes include:
Logging on: You logon by using the System List (as with the TSM Low-Level Link)
or by providing an IP address or Host Name (fully qualified domain name (FQDN)).
View pane: Only the Inventory view is displayed in the OSM Low-Level Link.
(There is no Physical or Connection view.)
The OSM Low-Level Link has a direct link to the SP tool. (Select Advanced
Service Processor Tool from the Tools menu).
The OSM Low-Level Link does not have a direct link to the TSM Event Viewer
(Instead, select Start > Programs > Compaq TSM > TSM Event Viewer.)
The Action Status Summary is not available in the OSM Low-Level Link.
Note. For future RVUs, only OSM is designed to support new functions.
