G06.27 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide
Installing SPRs Before Upgrading to the G06.27
RVU
G06.27 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide—540067-001
3-2
SPRs Required Before Upgrading
•
Before connecting a NonStop S-series system to an Integrity NonStop NS-series
system through IOAMF2 CRU, you must first update the firmware for both the
S-series Gigabit 4-port ServerNet adapter (G4SA) and Fibre-channel ServerNet
adapter (FCSA). Firmware for both the G4SA and FCSA adapters used for
S-series systems is not initially compatible with NS-series systems. See the
H06.03 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide for details on firmware versions
for H-series.
If you have a NonStop S-Series system that is connected to the Integrity NonStop
NS-series system via Expand or ServerNet Clusters, you do not need to initially
update the G4SA or FCSA firmware.
SPRs Required Before Upgrading
Depending on which RVU you are currently running, a number of SPRs must be
installed on your current RVU before you upgrade to the G06.27 RVU:
•
HP recommends that the DSM/SCM client be at the latest version (T6031G02) and
the server product version be T6031G02.
•
Fallback: If you encounter a problem that cannot be resolved while running the
G06.27 RVU, you can fall back to a previous G-series RVU, provided that you have
installed appropriate SPRs (referred to as fallback SPRs) on your system before
installing the G06.27 RVU, as discussed under Fallback SPRs on page 3-6.
•
Interoperability: SPRs might also be required to maintain interoperability when
you migrate one or more nodes in a multinode environment to the G06.27 RVU, as
discussed under Interoperability SPRs on page 3-7.
•
TSM Software Compatibility: You can also continue to use TSM client software
Version 2005A (T8154G06^ABI) on your system console if you have to fall back to
your earlier RVU. See the softdocs for installation instructions. If OSM is not
installed when migrating to the G06.27 RVU, use TSM to update the firmware and
perform system loads, noting that TSM does not support new guided procedures,
and tape and storage functions inherent in G06.21 and later RVUs. TSM does
support the processors: S7800, S78000, and S88000, but does not support IOAM.
•
OSM Software Compatibility: Eight of the previous OSM SPRs have been
combined into one (T0682G06^AAI) that is available on the G06.27 SUT. The
newest T1089 SP firmware SPR is available on the G06.27 SUT and should be
installed even if you have already installed T1089 ABK or T1089ABP. If OSM is not
installed when migrating to the G06.27 RVU, use TSM to update the firmware and
perform system loads. Note that TSM does not support new guided procedures
and tape and storage functions inherent in G06.21 and later RVUs. OSM does
support the new processors: S7800, S78000, and S88000 and IOAM.
Caution. HP recommends that both the T6031 product version and the client version be at the
same level.
