Updating Firmware
Updating Firmware Before System Load
Use the TSM Service Application to update SP firmware and processor boot code
before you perform a system load with the new RVU.
If OSM is already installed and configured on your current RVU, use the OSM Service
Connection to compare the firmware of the components to the firmware listed in the
SYSnn and update if necessary. The firmware disk files are M2805 (ME) and 10630
(FCSA). If the firmware versions are different, update the firmware using the OSM
Service Connection:
1. Launch and logon to the OSM Service Connection.
2. Expand the tree pane to locate and select the ServerNet Switch Board.
3. Check the ME firmware attributes.
4. If the Compare State attribute value is Downrev, update the ME firmware:
a. Right-click ServerNet Switch Board and select Actions.
b. Select ME Firmware Update from the list of available actions.
c. Click Perform Action.
d. Monitor the update.
Updating Firmware After System Load
Use the TSM Service Application or the OSM Service Connection (if OSM is already
installed and configured) to update remaining firmware, such as the SWAN
concentrator as necessary, after you perform a system load with the new RVU.
If you are using the 6780 ServerNet Switch, you must use the OSM Service
Connection to update firmware. For descriptions of the tasks for which the OSM
Service Connection should be used, see OSM and TSM on page 1-5.
Before attaching an Integrity NonStop NS-series server directly to an IOMF2 CRU, you
must make sure that certain firmware files (G4SA and FCSA) are at the minimum
revision level.
Caution. Before upgrading boot millicode using the online update function to T7892ABD, you
must have the G06.24 or later version of either the TSM server (T7945ABN) or all OSM server-
based SPRs (along with their prerequisites) configured and running. Otherwise, a processor
halt will result.
Note. Before attaching an Integrity NonStop NS-series server directly to an IOMF2 CRU, you
must verify that certain firmware files (SPCODE9 and Maintenance Entity firmware files) are at
the minimum revision level. (The Maintenance Entity, located in the ServerNet switch board,
performs functions similar to those of the SP in the PMF CRU.)
