TSM and OSM Client Applications
You can have both the TSM client and the OSM client-based components on your
system consoles. However, to avoid duplicate dial-outs, use either the OSM
Notification Director (ND) or TSM Notification Director, but not both.
HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM)
HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM) can now be used in conjunction with OSM
software to help manage your NonStop servers. HP SIM supports the NonStop
platform via Web-Based Enterprise Management (WEBM)) provided by OSM. HP SIM
is capable of discovering NonStop systems, displaying and forwarding alarms
generated by OSM, and collecting NonStop system and device data.
HP SIM can be installed from the NSC Installer CD S7X-SWV1/HNSC-SW1, Update 7,
or later (for installation details, see the NonStop System Console Installer Guide).
Using HP SIM in the NonStop environment requires:
•
OSM server version T0682G07^AAM or later
•
OSM Notification Director version T0632AAN or later
•
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) must be enabled in OSM (for details, see the OSM
Migration and Configuration Guide)
TSM and OSM Client Applications
After installing the appropriate SPRs, including the latest TSM server SPR (see
DSM/SCM T6031ABU SPR on page 3-3), upgrade your TSM client software to the
latest version.
Use the HP NonStop System Console Installer CD to upgrade TSM applications on the
Windows operating system. For instructions on using this CD to upgrade your system
console, see the HP NonStop System Console Installer Guide.
After installing the latest TSM server and client software, use the TSM Service
Application and the OSM Low-Level Link Application to update firmware and to halt
and restart the system. After you have migrated to G06.30, you can then install and
configure OSM (if not previously installed).
Beginning with TSM client T8154ABI (TSM 2005A), the TSM Low-Level Link is
replaced by the OSM Low-Level Link. Installed by the TSM installer, the OSM Low-
Level Link looks and functions much like the TSM Low-Level Link. While basic
functionality is the same, interface changes include:
•
Logging on: You log on by using the System List (as with the TSM Low-Level Link)
or by providing an IP address or Host Name (fully qualified domain name (FQDN)).
•
View pane: Only the Inventory view is displayed in the OSM Low-Level Link.
(There is no Physical or Connection view.)
Note. In future RVUs, only OSM will support new functionality.
