G06.31 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide
G06.31 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide—544626-002
1-1
1 Overview of Installing G06.31
This section introduces the tools and requirements for:
•
Upgrading a single NonStop S-series server to the G06.31 RVU from a G06.06 or
later G-series RVU
•
Falling back from G06.31 to a previous (G06.06 or later) G-series RVU
Disk Space Requirements
The maximum site update tape (SUT) with all standard products, plus all optional
products available to customers, contains approximately 2 or 3 gigabytes (GB) of data,
depending on optional products. (However, actual disk space required can be much
greater, particularly if you are installing a maximum SUT and are installing NonStop
NonStop SQL/MX 2.1.1 or later.)
System Console Requirements
A system console is an HP approved personal computer used to run maintenance and
diagnostic software for NonStop S-series servers. New system consoles run either
Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 or Windows Server 2003, and are
preconfigured with the required HP and third-party software. The DSM/SCM client is
also installed and configured.
When upgrading to the latest RVU, you can install software upgrades from the HP
NonStop System Console Installer DVD (S7X-SWV2/HNSC-SWV2), which must be
ordered separately from Scout for NonStop Servers through HP NonStop eServices
Portal at https://onepoint.nonstop.compaq.com/buildpage.asp. Always check Scout for
possible Installer updates. Depending on your current RVU, you might need to install a
Windows 2000 Service Pack. For detailed information on installing system console
software, see the
NonStop System Console Installer Guide
.
OSM is preinstalled on new system consoles. As of version S7X-SWV2/HNSC-SW2 of
the NonStop System Console Installer DVD, TSM in no longer available on the DVD or
installed on new consoles. To install the latest TSM client (T8154ABL, also known as
TSM 2006B), use the NonStop System Console Installer CD version S7X-
SWV1/HNSC-SWV1, Update 11, or S7X-SWV1/HNSC-SWV1, Update 12.
TSM is compatible with both XP Professional and Windows 2000. (See your service
provider for any compatibility issues with Windows Server 2003.) Windows XP
Professional is recommended for OSM and must be ordered separately. You must
order the HP NonStop System Console Kit for Migrating to Microsoft Windows XP
Professional. See the
NonStop System Console Guide for Migrating to Microsoft
Windows XP Professional
.
Note. HP NonStop system consoles are compatible with and are configured and shipped with
Windows XP Service Pack 2.
