Restore and Receive Before Upgrading
SWID is the software identification utility invoked by the SYSGENR program that audits
file identification information about your software. You must restore and receive the
new SWID PVU
before
you install the G06.32 SUT. See Copy (RESTORE) the
T6031G07^ACH DSM/SCM Product Version and SWID to Disk on page C-5.
Tandem Failure Data System (TFDS)
Check that TFDS is configured properly on the system. (TFDS monitors processors in
NonStop servers for software failure notifications.) The dump volume should not be
protected by Safeguard and should also be properly configured.
TNS/R CRE Heap Manager
The G06.15 RVU introduced a new heap manager, NSK CRE/RTL (T1269), an
alternative to the Native CRE/RTL product (T8431). You can choose either heap
manager during the creation of a system configuration revision. Consequently, the
choice of which one to install is an independent decision for your system. For migration
considerations, see Support Note S02001. For installation instructions, see Support
Note S03104.
Note that if you are installing and using OSM, HP recommends that the NSK CRE/RTL
(T1269) product be installed on the system, as opposed to the Native CRE/RTL
(T8431), which is the default. For migration considerations for T1269, see CRE/RTL
(T8431, T1269) on page 5-17 and Support Note S02001.
TSM Client and Server Software
HP recommends that you always install the latest TSM server SPR and client.
TSM client software is backwards compatible. If you have to fall back to an earlier RVU
after installing G06.32, you can continue to use your upgraded TSM client software on
your system console.
Beginning with TSM client T8154ABI (TSM 2005A), the TSM Low-Level Link is
replaced by the OSM Low-Level Link. Installed by the TSM installer, the OSM Low-
Level Link looks and functions much like the TSM Low-Level Link. To learn about the
minor differences between the OSM and TSM versions, See TSM and OSM Client
Applications on page 1-2, or the TSM ReadMe file.
Caution. You cannot simultaneously use both heap managers (T8431 and T1269) on the
same system.
Note. You install TSM server T7945ABN or later and TSM client T8154ABG or later before
performing an online boot code update.
