Installing SPRs Before Upgrading to the G06.32
RVU
G06.32 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide—546068-002
4-2
SPRs Required Before Upgrading
the S-series systems before connecting an NS-series or BladeSystem node to a
cluster:
°
To connect a NonStop NS-series node to a cluster, install T0294AAP or later
on the NonStop S-series systems.
°
To connect a NonStop BladeSystem node to a cluster, install T0294AAX or
later and T0502AAX or later on the the NonStop S-series systems.
•
Before connecting a NonStop S-series system to a NonStop NS-series system
through an IOAMF2 CRU, you must first update the firmware for both the S-series
Gigabit 4-port ServerNet adapter (G4SA) and Fibre Channel ServerNet adapter
(FCSA). Firmware for both the G4SA and FCSA adapters used for S-series
systems is not initially compatible with NS-series systems. See the
H06.nn
Software Installation and Upgrade Guide
for details on firmware versions for H-
series. Note that connecting an S-series system to a NonStop BladeSystem
through an IOAMF2 is not supported.
If you have a NonStop S-series system that is connected to the NonStop NS-series
system or NonStop BladeSystem via Expand or ServerNet Clusters, you do not
need to initially update the G4SA or FCSA firmware.
SPRs Required Before Upgrading
Depending on which RVU you are currently running, a number of SPRs must be
installed on your current RVU before you upgrade to the G06.32 RVU:
•
HP recommends that the DSM/SCM client be at the latest version (T6031G02) and
the server product version be T6031G07^ACH.
•
Fallback: If you encounter a problem that cannot be resolved while running the
G06.32 RVU, you can fall back to a previous G-series RVU, provided that you have
installed appropriate SPRs (referred to as fallback SPRs) on your system before
installing the G06.32 RVU, as discussed under Fallback SPRs on page 4-7.
•
Interoperability: SPRs might also be required to maintain interoperability when
you migrate one or more nodes in a multinode environment to the G06.32 RVU, as
discussed under Interoperability SPRs on page 4-10.
•
TSM Software Compatibility: You can also continue to use TSM client software
on your system console if you have to fall back to your earlier RVU. See the
softdocs for installation instructions. If OSM is not installed when migrating to the
G06.32 RVU, use TSM to update the firmware and perform system loads. For
descriptions of the tasks not supported by TSM, see OSM and TSM
on page 1-5
•
OSM Software Compatibility: The newest T1089 SP firmware SPR is available
on the G06.32 SUT and should be installed even if you have already installed
T1089ABK or T1089ABP. If OSM is not running when migrating to the G06.32
Caution. HP recommends that both the T6031 product version and the client version be at the
same level.
